Wiggy Ouija Boards

Nearly everyone has heard of Ouija Boards (pronounced ‘weegee’, or, as some think, ‘luigi’!), and many have had an experience with one through a séance, usually during their teenage years. I sat in on a séance at a friend’s thirteenth birthday party, and spent most of it sitting in someone else’s lap fervently hoping that nothing would happen (nothing did).

In case you don’t know, the Ouija Board is commonly understood to be a tool used to communicate with dead spirits, via the spirit moving a glass or token to letters of the alphabet on a board, to spell out words to the sitters. A very kitsch picture can be found here: http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2008/05/29/ouija-board-movie.jpg (it’s worth it just to see the lady’s purple twin set).

So anyway, over the last few days I’ve been asking around to ascertain what practicing psychics and others in the field think about Ouija Boards. Is it just the general community that thinks they’re creepy, or do psychics dislike them too?

The general response; was that practicing psychics considered Ouija Boards to be extremely unreliable, and untrustworthy. Many believe that Ouija Boards attract ‘lower forms’ of energy rather than the spirits of our loved ones. The use of Ouija Boards was likened to picking a random number out of the phone book, and hoping it will be your Grandmother on the other end.

I must say, I was surprised to hear this; as I would have thought Ouija Boards were quite simply a tool, with the intent and skill of the sitter more likely to determine the outcome.

Having said that, I wouldn’t want to do one in my house.

  1. Hey Erin!
I would have to agree with the other psychics you have questioned about this. They do attract lower energies and are often used by inexperienced people and at parties, sometimes when people are "inebriated".
As you can imagine, this is a dangerous cocktail of ingredients!
I have never heard of a good experience nor had any myself involving these "tools".
    I would stay clear.
Pendulums (spelling?), tarot cards and meditation are all a much better way and a safer way to tune in to the other side.
The other side is a wonderful but at times intense place and should be treated with respect and care.
It can also be a frightening experience if a not- so- nice spirit decides to scare those that are inexperienced and unprepared. It could stop you from ever tuning in again and rob you of good future experiences.
Better safe than sorry I say!
    Many Blessings,
    Sarah (psychic medium)
